[edit] How Else Can I Get Help?

We hope this walkthrough and this wiki has been helpful in setting up your new ArkLinux system. However, if you have any sort of other problems, help is just a few clicks away!

[edit] ArkLinux FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

There is a FAQ on both the wiki and the ArkLinux web site:

Ark Linux FAQ on the Wiki (recommended)
Ark Linux FAQ on the web site.

Please check the FAQ first before asking for help.

[edit] ArkLinux Forums

If you have some questions, please register in the forums at http://forum.arklinux.org. Once registered, you can search the archives (perhaps we have already solved your problem for someone else!), or post new questions and most of the time get a pretty quick response with some help for your situation. Don't be discouraged if you do not get a response right away though; we try to regularly check the forums, but sometimes there is some delay as we look into your problem.

[edit] ArkLinux Live Support

If you prefer, there is also live support. Live Support is an IRC chat, much like an instant messenger, and has a number of regulars (including the developers for ArkLinux) that hang out and can answer questions and help you, in real-time! Keep in mind, though, that due to time zone differences, there might not always be someone on to help or they might be busy doing something else, so wait or try again later.

There are two ways to get to Live Support:

  1. Through Your Browser. By navigating to http://www.arklinux.org/content/en/Live+Support, or by navigating to http://www.mibbit.com/ and pointing it at Server Freenode Channel #arklinux, you can sign on to the Live Support chat straight through your browser! This is a very convenient way of getting to it that does not require you to install anything special if you're not on your ArkLinux computer. If you are on your ArkLinux computer, consider trying through an IRC client.
  2. IRC Client. You can also use any IRC client to connect. One client-called Konversation-comes installed by default with ArkLinux, and is already configured to get you connected to Live Support pretty quickly. However, you can use any other client you wish (ArkLinux comes with KVIrc, installable through Mission Control>Install Software), and if you're not using ArkLinux, you may need to download and install a client (KVIrc also works on Windows) if the browser version will not work. To use your client, connect it to the URL irc.arklinux.org, and pick the channel #arklinux.

Again, do not be discouraged if you do not get a response immediately. ArkLinux users come from all over the world in many time zones, and so its possible some are at work or even sleeping when you sign on! Just because someones (nick)name is there, doesn't mean that they are sitting at their computer at that moment. However, rest assured you will get help as soon as someone is available, so if you cannot wait around for too long, please try back again at a later time, or leave a post in the forums for us to get back to you (we do, however, prefer if you wait for at least 30 minutes if you come on our IRC channel to give us a chance to notice you).
