History shows that the technically worst solution is always the most successful one in the market (Windoze, VHS tapes, DVDs with copy protection, ...)

So here's the recipe for the world's most successful operating system (patents pending):

  • Windoze kernel
  • GTK API for its GUI
  • DOS scripting
  • Apple's 1-button mouse
  • KDE's marketing
  • Ark Linux's finances
  • The ability to install it only one time
  • "We donate $100 to the Bush/Cheney campaign for every sold copy!"

If you can get all this together, you're guaranteed to take 90%+ of the operating system market over night.
